Counsellor for Diocesan Referrals (Diocese)

We are recruiting for a pool of counsellors and are seeking approximately ten experienced practitioners to join us on a self-employed basis

The Diocese of Gloucester offers funded short term counselling for clergy and their families. We are recruiting for a pool of counsellors and are seeking approximately ten experienced practitioners to join us on a self-employed basis.

Referrals will be offered on an ad hoc basis depending on client needs, including location and presenting issues. Counsellors will be self employed and will continue their private practice work while using our secure client management system for booking, administration and invoicing.

What You’ll Do

• Respond promptly to referrals offered by the Clinical Coordinator.

• Make timely contact with new clients and arrange sessions.

• Use our specialist client management software to manage appointments and invoicing.

• Work within diocesan policies, guidelines and wellbeing procedures.

• Maintain professional standards in line with your ethical body’s regulations.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

• Recognised Level 4 (or higher) Counselling Diploma – Adults and/or CYP.

• Registered member of BACP, UKCP, BPC, NCPS or ACC.

• Active private practice with:

o Minimum 90 minutes monthly 1:1 supervision

o Counselling insurance (and premises insurance if applicable)

o Active CPD portfolio

• Experience working with a range of presenting issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief or anger.

• Competent in using computer-based systems.

• Ability to respond and administrate efficiently.

• Compassionate, empathetic and non-judgemental approach.

• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

• Respect for the Christian ethos of the Diocese while working with people of all faiths and none.

Desirable

• Safeguarding Adults and/or Children qualifications.

• Enhanced DBS check.

• Two years post-qualification experience.

• Demonstrable specialist area of practice.

• Experience using digital client management software or outcome measures.

• Counselling room available within Gloucestershire.

• Experience of working within a faith-based, charity or counselling agency setting
