FOGC: we're recruiting!

Play a key role in securing the future fabric, music and wellbeing of Gloucester Cathedral

We are currently looking to fill several vacancies on Council, the voluntary board of trustees, who run the Friends. The Council consists of Elected Trustees who are members of the Friends and who are directly elected by the membership and number between seven and ten. Trustees are elected for an initial three year term with the option to serve two further three year terms. The Council meet at the Cathedral four times a year, including the AGM.

Our aim is that the members of Council bring a varied and relevant skill set to the table. Many fields of expertise are required to run a charity: management experience, lawyers and accounts, PR and publication experts, finance and investments to name but a few. More specifically we are currently looking to recruit an new trustee with managerial, administrative and planning skills to become the next Honorary Secretary of the Friends.

We encourage trustees from as wide a constituency as possible, “we are open to all, of any religion or indeed none”. Members of Council bring a varied and valuable set of skills to the charity, however the most important qualification is a genuine passion to be part of securing the future fabric, music and wellbeing of our great Cathedral church.

For more details please read the open letter from our Chair, Tony Wilton-Steer below, as well as role profiles for Trustees and the Honorary Secretary.
