The Diocese is seeking to secure the services of a compassionate and experienced Counselling Scheme Co-ordinator

Hours: 2–5 per week
Pay: £30 per hour
Location: Flexible / Remote

The Diocese is seeking to secure the services of a compassionate and experienced Counselling Scheme Co-ordinator to help nurture and develop our Diocesan Counselling Service — a service that offers vital support to clergy, church leaders and others in need of professional counselling.

This is a self-employed role, ideal for someone already practising independently who feels called to use their skills in service of the Church’s ministry of care and wellbeing.

About the Role

Rooted in a commitment to pastoral care and wellbeing, this role ensures that those who come to the service are met with understanding, professionalism and sensitivity.

You will oversee the referral and allocation process, co-ordinate and support our network of counsellors, and work with colleagues to strengthen how the Diocese cares for those in ministry and beyond.

This role will

Key Responsibilities
• Receive and manage referrals, ensuring clients are appropriately matched to counsellors
• Recruit and support counsellors, ensuring professional standards and good practice
• Maintain accurate and confidential records, reports and data
• Collaborate with diocesan HR and wellbeing teams to identify patterns and promote wellbeing initiatives
• Contribute to the continued growth and development of the service
• Participate in professional supervision and ongoing CPD

About You
We are looking for someone who brings both professional expertise and a heart for ministry. You will be:
• A qualified counsellor (Level 4 Diploma or above) and registered with BACP, UKCP, BPC, NCPS or ACC
• Experienced in counselling (at least two years post-qualification) and in managing or supporting others
• Organised, relational and able to work independently with integrity and discretion
• Knowledgeable about safeguarding, confidentiality and GDPR within a counselling context
• Respectful of, and comfortable working within, the Christian ethos of the Diocese, and open to people of all faiths or none

Desirable
• Experience of working within a faith-based, charity or counselling agency setting
• Qualifications in counselling children and young people, and safeguarding
