Ticking all the boxes

Ticking all the boxes - Gloucester Cathedral’s Summer Challenge attracts thousands in just three weeks!

Gloucester Cathedral has welcomed over 3000 children through its doors since launching the Summer Challenge Family Trail just three weeks ago.

The Cathedral’s hugely popular Summer Challenge offers 19 activities to choose from including hunting for medieval stone masons’ marks in the Nave, dressing up as a Cathedral character (children and adults) in the Tribune Gallery or sending a secret message through the mysterious Whispering Gallery. Each activity earns you a sticker for your bright and cheerful Summer Challenge Sheet. Complete just nine of the challenges and claim a gold medal.

This year, many families have chosen to staycation for the summer holidays and have been looking for ways to keep the whole family entertained. Gloucester Cathedral’s Summer Challenge in a spectacularly spacious building, with beautiful outdoor spaces to enjoy as well and the chance to enjoy some delicious food and beverages from The Monk’s Kitchen Coffee Shop, ticks all the boxes for a fun family day out.

Visitors have been encouraged to share pictures of themselves on social media channels enjoying the challenges and collecting their medals, remember to use the hashtag - #GCsummerchallenge

Lorna Giles, Head of Visitor Experience said “It’s been wonderful to see so many families having a fantastic time here. The sounds of fun and laughter have filled the Cathedral and after the difficulties of the past year this is exactly what we want to see. The Cathedral has come alive again!”

With so much to see and do, both inside and out at Gloucester Cathedral you can be sure the whole family will have a thoroughly enjoyable day out. The Summer Challenge is available for another three weeks, until Sunday 5 September.

Full information about the Summer Challenge can be found here.
