Gloucester’s annual Lantern Procession and Christmas Lights Switch on is back! The much-loved procession will begin in Southgate Street at 4.40pm, and it will feature lanterns that have been created by children at six local primary schools. This year, they will draw upon the theme of the 12 Days of Christmas, so expect pipers piping, flying gold rings and more…

The Gloucester schools taking part are: Meadowside Primary School, The Altus School, Coney Hill Community Primary School, Field Court C of E Infant Academy, Dinglewell Junior School, and Kingsway Primary School.

For the first time the parade route will include Kings Square, so please look at the map for the new route. Happenings along the parade route include the Christmas light switch on at 4.50pm at the Cross, and the Tree of Light Ceremony at 5pm in Kings Square. Click here to find out more.

The procession will culminate here at Gloucester Cathedral, with the Carol Service at 5.45pm. All are most welcome to attend, with no booking required.
