An update on the Cathedral heating

We are advising visitors to wrap up warm over the coming weeks

The Cathedral’s heating system has temporarily stopped working; we have been working hard to resolve the issue, but unfortunately it is not going to be possible to repair it before Christmas.

As a result, it is anticipated that the inside of the Cathedral will be colder than usual until the heating is fixed. If you are planning to visit the Cathedral (whether that’s for a service, concert or general visiting) please do wrap up warm. Hats, scarves, gloves and coats are advisable, and we would also suggest bringing a blanket if you will be seated for an extended period of time. We will also be providing a limited number of blankets, particularly for the vulnerable.

We are sorry for the discomfort that these cold temperatures may cause, and we have plans in place for the heating system to be repaired as soon as possible in January.

Whilst we hope that you will still join us as we come together to celebrate Christmas, if you have booked tickets for one of the Cathedral Carol Services (22 and 23 December) and no longer wish to attend, please do cancel your ticket(s) in advance. This is so that the space can be made available for others. You can cancel your ticket via the confirmation email that you would have received upon booking, or alternatively please contact Cathedral Reception (reception@gloucestercathedral.org.uk or 01452 528 095). Thank you.
