Whether it is greeting and showing round visitors, providing food for the homeless or researching and providing different types of support behind the scenes; you will always find volunteers at the centre of all that we do. Visitor Information Point VIP volunteers offer a friendly face and a wide range of information to visitors as they visit the north transept. | ![]() |
Welcomer Gloucester Cathedral is known for its warm welcome and an essential part of that is the role of our volunteer Welcomers. | ![]() |
Guide Our Cathedral Guides have all under taken extensive training and are required to go through a stringent assessment process before they can practise as guides. This means that they are all experts in the history and architecture of the Cathedral and the quality of tours offered is very high. | ![]() |
Flower Guild The Flower Guild is always looking for new members so if you arrange flowers in your own home why not get in touch? | ![]() |
Administrative Volunteers can help with a variety of administrative and IT based tasks. | ![]() |
Tower Tours If you are reasonably fit and have a head for heights this is an enjoyable volunteer role which you can learn as you go on the job. | ![]() |
Breakfast Club A team of dedicated volunteers serve a cooked breakfast to the homeless and needy every Thursday morning. | ![]() |
Coffee Shop Our friendly team are joined by a small number of volunteers who help with basic and yet vital tasks such as washing up and clearing tables. | ![]() |
Gift Shop The Gift Shop has a large team of volunteers who help to unpack stock, maintain displays and serve customers amongst other tasks. | ![]() |
Monuments Guild The Monuments Guild or ‘the holy dusters’ as they are known play an important part in maintaining the high standards of presentation in the Cathedral | ![]() |
Education A team of education volunteers help our Education Team to deliver workshops, activities and tours for thousands of children visiting the Cathedral each year. | ![]() |
Chaplains A volunteer chaplain is on duty most days to speak with any visitor who needs them. | ![]() |
