FOGC - Architecture course (mornings)

6 February, 6 March, 3 April, 1 May and 5 June from 10am-12.30pm, with a final joint session on 24 July from 11.30-4pm.

This course is aimed at those with a beginner level of interest in architecture or those who have a passion to learn about our Cathedral.

The course will cover topics including, but not limited to:

  • Introduction to Norman architecture, including a tour of the Crypt

  • Introduction to Early English and Decorated Architecture

  • Visit to Gloucester Cathedral's Lady Chapel

  • Introduction to Perpendicular Architecture, with a close look at the Quire and East Window

  • Learn about the Cathedral's magnificent Cloisters and (optionally) climb the 269 steps to the top of the tower

  • Visit our Mason's yard, and see their work up close with the opportunity to ask questions

The course price includes tea/coffee, as well as lunch at the final joint session.

NB: it is not possible to swap between the morning and afternoon sessions, and courses will not run without a minimum of 7 participants per session.
