Gloucester Cathedral receives generous grant from Benefact Trust

The £11,050 grant will be used to provide world-class training to our Senior Stonemasons, which is vital for ensuring that this magnificent building stays in the best possible condition for years to come

We’re delighted to share the news that Benefact Trust has awarded a grant of £11,050 to Gloucester Cathedral!

The Cathedral is home to some of the world’s most significant architecture, and we’re one of only 11 cathedrals to have an on-site workshop, with specialist stonemasons who are dedicated to caring for the building and its environs. Our workshop is gaining a national reputation as one of the finest Conservation Workshops in the country, and through our apprenticeship scheme with the Cathedrals’ Workshop Fellowship, we provide education and training to the next generation of craftspeople.

In order to maintain a gold standard of stonemasonry, it is essential for our senior stonemasons to continue to develop and upskill throughout their careers too. The generous funding from Benefact Trust will enable this, through allowing two members of our team to complete a series of specialist masterclasses and accreditation respectively.

A huge thank you to Benefact Trust for their continued support.
