21 hours per week, which can be worked flexibly
Band 4: £20,322 - £24,264 per annum
(£33,863 - £40,433 per annum FTE* *Full-Time is 35 hours)

The Diocese of Gloucester is seeking to recruit a Safeguarding Support Officer (SSO) to work as a valued team member with the Diocesan Safeguarding Team. We are a supportive, busy and hardworking team, providing safeguarding casework support, advice/guidance and training to all parishes and worshipping communities in the Diocese.

Our successful candidate will work closely with the Strategic Lead for Training and Learning, supporting the delivery of training for volunteers, employees and clergy across the diocese. They will also work with the new SSO (Advice & Guidance) on proactively supporting those with lead safeguarding responsibilities at parish and deanery level.

This post will suit a professional from a range of backgrounds (such as education, health, police and social care) with experience of delivering training or teaching, who is confident working with challenging subject matter and vulnerable groups. This includes supporting with the delivery of safeguarding events, visiting parishes/worshipping communities, and supporting with questions/concerns that come into the team.

This new role will be a busy and dynamic one, with plenty of practical opportunities for the post holder to get involved with supporting the delivery of high-quality safeguarding training and support to parishes, in line with the national Church of England training framework and the wider safeguarding policies/practice guidance. It is essential that potential post holder is friendly, approachable and able to demonstrate excellent time management and organisational skills.
