The cloisters have welcomed medieval monks, inspired architects, survived the Reformation and become famous around the world through Harry Potter and Wolf Hall. Yet their story goes far beyond their iconic architecture.
Medieval historian Janina Ramirez, monastic expert Professor James Clark, Gloucester Cathedral Archivist Rebecca Phillips and Cloister Project archaeologist Chiz Harward come together to explore one of Britain’s greatest medieval spaces.
Discover how these extraordinary 14th-century cloisters transformed English architecture, how they were used by the Benedictine monks, and what archaeological and archival research can reveal about their history.
