Special NHS Evensong: The Gift of Sight

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and NHS Blood and Transplant invite you to a special Evensong service at to honour and celebrate tissue donors and their families.

For the first time, we are bringing together the extraordinary families who made the generous choice to say "yes" to tissue donation after losing a loved one.

Marking this year's World Sight Day, the service spotlights the gift of sight and the transformative power of community action, personal stories, and lived experiences. Without the selfless generosity of donors, countless patients waiting for sight-saving cornea transplants would face a life in darkness.

Join us for an evening of reflection, choral music, and shared gratitude as we honour these extraordinary individuals and highlight how a simple conversation about the NHS Organ Donor Register can give someone else a second chance at life.

    We are sorry that due to limited space, parking in the Cathedral Close is restricted to pass holders only.

    There are eight disabled parking spaces which are for use by Blue Badge holders on a first come first served basis.

    However, there are several public car parks within easy walking distance of the Cathedral.

  • Arriving by Public Transport

    The Cathedral is located in Gloucester Town Centre, so the best way to get here is by public transport.

    We are a 10-15 minute walk from both the train and bus stations. You can also use Gloucester’s Park and Ride.

    Cycling is a great way to get around Gloucester - the city is easy to explore on two wheels.
