Requiem Eucharist: All Souls Day

Join us in the Cathedral for a moving and reflective Requiem Eucharist as we mark All Souls’ Day and remember before God those whom we have loved and lost.

At the heart of this service is the Christian hope that, in death as in life, we are held in the love of God. In the stillness and beauty of the Cathedral, there will be space to give thanks for those who have shaped our lives, to acknowledge the pain of absence, and to commend the departed to God’s eternal care.

During the Eucharist, the names of those who have died will be read aloud. Anyone is warmly invited to submit the name of a family member, friend or loved one whom they would like to be remembered in this way.

The Cathedral Choir will sing Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem, one of the most profound and beautiful settings of the Requiem Mass. Drawing on the ancient melodies of Gregorian chant, Duruflé’s music combines tenderness, consolation and a deep sense of peace.

All are welcome to attend, whether your bereavement is recent or many years past, and to share in this special service of remembrance, prayer and hope.
