Friends Day 2023

Saturday 8 July 2023

We’re delighted to invite you to join us for Friends Day 2023, which looks set to be one of the most entertaining and enjoyable so far.

The event will include a specially curated highlight concert of “The Happy Princess” performed by our younger choirs, with the full concert scheduled for the 3 Choirs Festival in July this year (https://3choirs.org/events/the-happy-princess). "The Happy Princess" is a moving and poignant opera, based on the timeless story by Oscar Wilde.

There will also be the chance to chat to our talented, immensely knowledgeable and always entertaining stonemasons, who are looking forward to telling you all about the projects they are currently working on. This will include a look at The Cloister Project and the astonishing architectural finds that have been made so far, as well as an update on the ongoing work on the North Nave.

To give thanks for all our valued Friends' support, you are also invited to attend a special Evensong in your honour, sung by our talented Girl Choristers.

Throughout the afternoon, there will be delicious refreshments on offer in the Chapter House, provided by The Monk’s Kitchen – this will include tea, coffee and cake. Hospitality tickets should be purchased.  Weather permitting, these can be enjoyed in the Garth, which is reserved for our members.

Ticket information:

It should be a thoroughly absorbing afternoon and we hope that you and your guests will join us.   It would be so helpful if you might register your attendance by booking a free ticket and if you are wishing to take part in refreshments in the Chapter House, please purchase a hospitality ticket.  It helps our events team to expect a number of attendees in advance.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING YOU!   NB: All members are welcome to attend the AGM between 1.00pm and 1.45pm in the Chapter House but please remember that your guests cannot attend or vote.
