Relax at an evening of meditative festive music, enjoying the splendour of our new Cathedral organ.

Enjoy the warmth, magic, and splendour of our magnificent organ during a special Christmas Organ Meditation; an inspiring hour of festive music set within a breathtaking and sacred space.

Join us at 6.30pm on Sunday 13 December for an enchanting performance of Olivier Messiaen’s masterpiece, La Nativité du Seigneur (The Birth of the Lord).

Played by Gloucester Cathedral’s own Assistant Director of Music, Jonathan Hope, this atmospheric performance wraps you in a cosy tapestry of sound, weaving through nine radiant musical meditations that capture the awe and deep joy of the Christmas story.

A wonderful way to end a weekend, before Monday begins…

Jonathan Hope is the Assistant Director of Music at Gloucester Cathedral, where he serves as principal organist for Cathedral services.

Educated at the Royal College of Music, he is an internationally acclaimed recitalist, improviser, and recording artist who frequently performs with leading orchestras and at major festivals across the UK and abroad.

  • Parking

    We are sorry that due to limited space, parking in the Cathedral Close is restricted to pass holders only.

    There are eight disabled parking spaces which are for use by Blue Badge holders on a first come first served basis.

    However, there are several public car parks within easy walking distance of the Cathedral.

  • Arriving by Public Transport

    The Cathedral is located in Gloucester Town Centre, so the best way to get here is by public transport.

    We are a 10-15 minute walk from both the train and bus stations. You can also use Gloucester’s Park and Ride.

    Cycling is a great way to get around Gloucester - the city is easy to explore on two wheels.
