Saturday 3 June, 1.15pm-2pm
For their summer concert in their 85th anniversary year, Cheltenham Choral Society will be returning to Gloucester Cathedral to give a lunchtime concert.
They will be singing the uplifting Vivaldi's Gloria. Their wonderful accompanist Alison Howell will play Toccata (Plymouth Suite) by Percy Whitlock. They will then sing two more anthems: the much loved Mozart “Laudate Dominium” and Herbert Sumsion’s “They that go down to the sea in ships” a dramatic setting of Psalm 107. Herbert Sumsion was organist at Gloucester Cathedral from 1928 – 1967, so he will be remembered by many with pride.
In this Coronation Year they will complete the concert with a rousing rendition of Sir Edward Elgar’s setting of ‘God Save the King.’
All are welcome with no tickets required. There will be a retiring collection for Cheltenham Choral Society.
