Canon Rebecca Lloyd appointed to Winchester Cathedral
We’re delighted to share that the Revd Canon Dr Rebecca Lloyd has been appointed as Canon Precentor and Sacrist at Winchester Cathedral.
Rebecca joined Gloucester Cathedral in October 2022 as Canon Chancellor and Director of Learning and Participation, and throughout her time here she has made an exceptional contribution to the Cathedral's ministry, mission and public engagement.
Her leadership has strengthened our work in learning, visitor experience, partnerships and social responsibility, helping to build meaningful relationships across our communities.
She’s also played a pivotal role in delivering ambitious exhibitions and programmes that have brought national attention to the Cathedral while creating opportunities for conversation, reflection and welcome for people of all backgrounds.
Although we are naturally saddened that Rebecca will be leaving Gloucester, we’re delighted that she has been called to this significant role at Winchester Cathedral. It is a richly deserved appointment and reflects the gifts, vision and dedication she has brought to her ministry here.
Rebecca's final day with us will be Sunday 11 October. We will share details shortly of an opportunity for staff and volunteers to thank Rebecca and wish her every blessing as she prepares for this exciting new chapter.
Rebecca is taking the opportunity for some study leave to prepare herself for her new responsibilities. To facilitate this, while she will continue attending and participating in worship, she will hand over her line management responsibilities to Dean Andrew until her successor is in post.
Please join us in congratulating Rebecca, thanking her for all she has contributed to Gloucester Cathedral, and keeping her in your prayers as she continues on her journey.
