Gloucester Cathedral apprentices receive prestigious award from Honourable Company of Gloucestershire
Gloucester Cathedral was delighted to welcome members of the Honourable Company of Gloucestershire to present two Apprentice Stonemasons from the Cathedral with the prestigious Anne Cadbury Apprenticeship Award.
The awards were presented to Hannah Kendall and Kai Gear by the Warden of the Honourable Company of Gloucestershire, Julie Kent in the presence of other Company members and the Dean of Gloucester. The awards will enable the recipients to purchase new equipment and further their stonemason career.
The Honourable Company is a strong champion of apprenticeships and believes education and training play a key role in providing the necessary skills for industry. The initiative was launched in 2022, with the first awards being in 2023, and is designed to help and support apprentices who are in the process of their training.
The Cathedral is grateful to the Honourable Company for their generous support of the stonemason apprentices.
The Very Reverend Andrew Zihni, Dean of Gloucester added:
“We are so grateful for all the continued support of the Honourable Company for the life and work of the Cathedral. I know that these awards mean so much to Hannah and Kai and will help contribute to preserving our wonderful Cathedral.
Our stonemasons are pivotal in ensuring this magnificent building stays in the best possible condition for years to come to continue being a beacon of Christ’s light and hope for all people across the city, the county and the diocese.”
