Cathedral Fabric Advisory Committee (FAC) members

Are you attracted by the idea of contributing to the care of Gloucester’s great medieval church?

Our Gloucester Cathedral Fabric Advisory Committee (FAC) is seeking to recruit new members with skills/experience in at least one of these fields:

  • Access planning in historic buildings

  • Adaptation of historic buildings for modern use

  • Archaeology

  • Curation (decorative and applied art)

  • Medieval architectural history

  • Visitor experience in historic sites

The role of the FAC is to advise the Cathedral’s Chapter on the care, conservation, repair and development of the building, its setting and the significant objects it holds. It has statutory responsibility for approving all works, developments, repairs and loans which Chapter wishes to carry out.

Membership of the FAC is a voluntary role, but travel expenses may be reimbursed. Members are required to attend four meetings a year in Gloucester and are occasionally called upon to visit between meetings in relation to particular projects.
