Children's Church

Learn & grow together

Children’s Church meets on a Sunday morning during term-time in the Chapter House. All families are welcome to join the beginning of the 10.15am service and then move to the Chapter House. Special themed activities of story, craft and music are enjoyed there for part of the morning service time. Children of all ages are very welcome with their parents, grandparents and carers. Juice and biscuits are served too!

On second Sundays in the month, Children’s Church meets at the west end of the Nave.

On Sundays during school holidays there are ‘busy bags’ available for youngsters to use at the west end of the Nave.

Just turn up!

Welcome to Gloucester Cathedral Children’s Church

We are pleased that you have come along to Children’s Church today. We hope you enjoyed it and might like to join us again. We understand that you may not be able to come every Sunday, but you will be vey welcome to join us again whenever you can.

Here is some information about Children’s Church:

When does Children’s Church meet?

On Sunday mornings, during the 10.15am service, in School Term times. We normally come out of the service during the singing of the Gloria and return in time for you to either take Communion or receive a Blessing.

Who leads Children’s Church?

We are a small team of Cathedral volunteers, who have all been DBS checked. We all meet on a regular basis with the Cathedral Clergy to plan our future activities and take it in turns to either lead or assist at each session we run.

Where does Children’s Church meet?

On most Sundays we meet in the Chapter House, situated just off the Cloisters. The Cathedral Stewards can help you if you need directions.

What happens on the Sundays when the Cathedral Junior Choirs lead our worship?

This is normally the 2nd Sunday of each month, but it may change to fit in with special Sundays in the Church’s calendar e.g. Mothering Sunday. On these Sundays we meet as usual, but instead of going to the Chapter House, there are tables at the back of the Cathedral where we can enjoy craft activities but also be involved in the service.

What happens during School holidays when Children’s Church is not operating?

We have “Busy Bags”. We hope that you will still want to come along on a Sunday morning but understand that children may enjoy some activities too. Please ask a Cathedral Steward for a “Busy Bag”. These contain books, quiet toys, crafts and colouring to do during the service.
