Gloucester Cathedral launches new Gardening Group

Gloucester Cathedral launches new Gardening Group

Wednesdays 11.00am-12.30pm

Gloucester Cathedral hosted a pilot Gardening for Wellbeing Course in September 2020 in partnership with Adult Education Gloucestershire as part of a developing Social Responsibility events and activities programme. The course aimed to pilot an organised, socially distanced activity that could be run safely for adults whose mental health and wellbeing have been negatively impacted by Covid 19 and the resulting lockdowns.

The pilot was a big success and despite a pause during further lockdowns, the adults who took part in the pilot have now resumed meeting at the Cathedral every week to develop their gardening knowledge and build friendships. The group have now become the ‘Cathedral Gardening Group’ and meet every Wednesday morning to complete socially distanced gardening tasks.

The Cathedral are keen to expand the group and welcome new members, all of whom will be offered the opportunity to complete a 6 week Basic Gardening Course with Adult Education Gloucestershire as part of their learning journey.

If you are interested in joining or know someone who could benefit from being part of the group please get in touch with Helen Jeffrey, Community Engagement and Social Responsibility Manager or leave a message with reception on 01452 528095
