Gloucester Cathedral Opening Times
The Cathedral is open to visitors 365 days. Our usual opening times are between 7.30am and 6pm.
During Kings School term time the main Cathedral is closed Monday to Friday between 8.45am and 9.15am for school assembly.
On Sundays the recommended visiting times are between 11.45am and 2.45pm. This is when our Cathedral volunteers are available to welcome you and answer questions. You can also take a guided tour of the Cathedral.
On Sundays services are held at 7.40am, 8am, 10.15am and 3pm. You are welcome to join us. Please be aware that access to some areas of the building might be restricted during the services.
The primary purpose of the Cathedral is as a place of worship, this means that from time to time access to the building is restricted due to special services, weddings or funerals. We try as far as possible to provide visitors with access to as much of the Cathedral site as possible, although on occasions this may be restricted or at times the building may be closed completely.
To avoid disappointment or an unnecessary journey, it’s best to check the Cathedral diary when planning your visit. You can also email us.
