Supporting the homeless and vulnerable is core to our values, our vision and mission and is realised through our Social Responsibility work. We are delighted that our Breakfast Club provision continues to run every Thursday and Sunday morning.  The dedicated volunteer team serve takeaway bacon rolls and hot drinks, utilising our outdoor spaces to ensure guests can observe social distancing when queuing, whilst still receiving a warm Cathedral welcome.

  • Breakfast Club runs on Thursday and Sunday at 7.30am-8.30am

  • Guests are asked to convene at the West end steps of the Cathedral where a queuing system is set up.

16:00Cathedral Library Virtual Tour

Via Zoom

Tickets cost £5

You’re invited to join our Cathedral Archivist, Rebecca, on a very special virtual tour of the Cathedral’s Library. Originally built in the early 15th century to house the manuscripts belonging to the Abbey of St Peter, the Library later became home to the King’s School Room; later, it was restored and returned to its original purpose, except that it is now the library of the Dean and Chapter that is held here. Along the way it has survived a Civil War and a fire, so its perhaps no surprise that this room has many a story to tell…

The Library sits between the North Transept and the Chapter House, up above the Treasury and the Song School where the choristers practice. It is one of the Cathedral’s hidden secrets, and throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, tours here have sadly been off-limits due to social distancing measures. This new virtual tour provides the chance to have a fascinating look inside. Rebecca will guide you through the Library’s tumultuous and intriguing history, whilst highlighting some of the key books and documents from each period.

Parts of the tour will be pre-recorded, but there will be live discussions and a question-and-answer session with Rebecca.

The tour is expected to last approximately 45 minutes, including time for Q&A.
