Guided Tours | Guides are available 12.00-14.30, excluding times where there is limited access to the Cathedral. The Guides can offer full or partial guided tours which they will tailor to suit your interests and the time you have available. If you would like a full tour of the Cathedral it’s a good idea to arrive at least 45 minutes before the Guides go off duty, in order to allow enough time. 15:00 | Library Tour | Located high above the main body of the Cathedral (you will need to go up 38 spiral steps!) the Cathedral Library Room was originally part of the Abbey and holds a wonderful collection of books and manuscripts dating back to the 11th century. The tour will allow you access to the impressive medieval library. You will have the chance to get up close to rare books and early manuscripts from the Cathedral’s collection. Tours last 30 minutes and cost £3.00 per adult and £1.00 per adult. Tickets are available on the day from the gift shop. You are invited to a Cathedral Conversation led by Revd Dr Rob James “The Promise of Freedom” Liberation Theology Past, Present and Future WEMTC tutor Rob James, vicar of Newnham, Awre and Blakeney in the Forest of Dean, will explore liberation theology’s theme of God’s ‘Option for the Poor’, its expression in the work of some of the classic liberation theologians of South America and Africa, and its relevance and promise in our own context.
