Postponed: Friends Visit to Berkeley

Friends Visit to Berkeley - POSTPONED

New Date TBC

Unfortunately, the Jenner Museum remains closed until further notice. As a result, we have had to make changes in the order of the day.

Our visit will now begin at 9.45 a.m. (please note the earlier start than originally planned) and will run as follows:

  • Arrival 9.45am at Berkeley Castle
  • 10.00 - 11.15 Guided tour of the castle
  • 11.15 - 11.45 Mid-morning refreshments
  • 11.45 - 12.30 Opportunity to visit the castle gardens
  • 12.30 - 13.30 Light lunch
  • 13.30 - 14.30 Guided tour of Berkeley church

Tickets will include the castle tour, the gardens, the church tour, and mid-morning refreshments in lieu of the Jenner museum. A light lunch will be available at your leisure. Both the mid-morning refreshments and lunch will be taken in a newly renovated room next to the castle, which will be private to us.

Our visit to Berkeley will begin at St Mary's Church, which dates from the 13th century and is notable for its medival wall paintings, detached tower and memorials to the Berkeley family. We will be offered tea, coffee and cakes before being shown round by the church guide.

In the afternoon we will visit Berkeley Castle to have a guided tour of the whole building, including the Chapel of St John, where the body of the murdered Kind Edward II rested in 1327 before his burial in Gloucester Cathedral.

The ticket cost will include morning refreshments and access and guided tours of the buildings. Please note that we will use our own transport to get to Berkeley.
