Adopt a Book

Ensuring our collection is available for generations to come

There are many books in our collection that require care and attention to ensure they remain available for researchers now and in the future. Our ‘Adopt a Book’ scheme allows you to make a donation towards the care of an item, and we can work with you to match your interests to our books. To find out more about some items in our collection that require care, please download the ‘Adopt a Book’ brochure via the button below.

Adopt a Book

A donation of as little as £25 can help us to make protective enclosures for fragile books, whilst larger donations will help us to repair books that are not able to be handled without causing damage.

For…

  • £25 – your donation will be acknowledged on our online donors register.

  • £100 – you will be acknowledged and also receive a limited edition gift based on the Library collection.

  • Full cost of the repair to a book – you can choose the book that you support, and will also be invited to attend our annual donors tour where you will see the books repaired during that year and speak to the archivist, conservators and books binders who have worked on these items during the year.  In addition a name of your choice will be included as part of the record of the repair that will form part of the repaired book.

We are hugely grateful for any support you can give. Thank you.

For more details or to discuss what books currently need care as part of the scheme please contact our Archivist by calling 01452 229818 or send an email using the button below.
