Library Tours

A rare chance to visit the Cathedral's beautiful, hidden 15th Century monastic library

Located high above the main body of the Cathedral (you will need to go up 38 spiral steps!) the Cathedral Library Room was originally part of the Abbey and holds a wonderful collection of books and manuscripts dating back to the 11th century.

The tour will allow you access to the impressive medieval library which is hardly ever open to the public and you will have the chance to get up close to rare books and early manuscripts from the Cathedral’s collection.

Volunteers and staff will be on hand to talk about the library and answer any questions.

Dates for upcoming Library Tours can be found on our What's On/ Special Tours Page.

Tours last 45-60 minutes are on the following Saturdays: 22nd April, 10th June, 1st July and 22nd July at 10.45am, 11.45am, 1.45pm and 2.45pm. You will be asked to leave any large bags in a designated area during the tour.

Tickets are £7 (children free) and may be pre-booked via the gift shop or bought there on the day.
