Cathedral Holy Land Pilgrimage 2017

Cathedral Holy Land Pilgrimage

23 - 31 October 2017

Dean Stephen will be leading a major pilgrimage to the Holy Land based around members of the cathedral community in October 2017.

Please consider carefully if you would like to take part in this once in a lifetime opportunity to visit the place where Jesus lived and shared his ministry in the company of others.

A Pilgrimage brochure is available from the Cathedral office
or download a brochure here to see all the details.

Message from The Very Reverend Stephen Lake MA, Dean of Gloucester

Thank you for your interest  in the experience of a lifetime. I invite  you to consider travelling  to the Holy Land in the company of others for a shared encounter with the people and the places we hear about and sing about so often.

I have led five pilgrimages over the years and it is indeed a life  changing and a challenging nine days together. You will be moved, you will pray, you will have fun, and you will come back with pictures in your mind and in your heart that will make worship and everyday life  come alive.

We will be faithful but not churchy. We must work together as a team and find space for reflection as individuals. I hope we will be made up of a cross section of ages and backgrounds, built  around a core group from the cathedral community and the diocese.

This is not a holiday, it is an experience.  You will need to prepare and there will be times the group will come together before we travel for teaching, for practical information and for fellowship. I hope to be leading a group of just over forty persons in total, which is an optimum number. If you are on your own, perhaps you might like to share the possibility with a friend who could accompany you.

If you show an interest, I willinvite you to an introductory meeting (without commitment  to travel)  in July 2016.

The contact person for expressions of interest, deposits and questions is Fiona

Places are limited and they go quickly so please do not hesitate for too long. I hope you may be able to join us on a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Gathering invite - Friday 9 September, 7.00pm

There will be a gathering for those interested in joining the cathedral pilgrimage to the Holy Land in 2017 on Friday 9 September at 7.00pm. Refreshments will be provided. Dean Stephen will outline the programme and what it is like to visit Israel today. If you have expressed an interest or would simply like to attend to hear more, please do come to the Parliament Room.

Wishing you every blessing,

Stephen Lake

Dean of Gloucester
