Carols on the Hour & Christmas Market at Gloucester Cathedral

Saturday 9 December 11.00am - 4.00pm

Gloucester Cathedral’s choirs are limbering up for a marathon carol-singing session on Saturday 9 December. Aimed specially at the busy Christmas shopper, Carols on the Hour are bite-sized bursts of festive praise sung by the Cathedral Choirs on the hour between 11am and 4pm.

11am: Cathedral Junior Choir

12noon: Girl Choristers

1.00pm: Girl and Boy Choristers

2pm: Boy Choristers

3pm and 4pm: Cathedral Youth Choir

Alongside the carol services from 10am to 4.30pm will be the Cathedral’s Christmas Market in the Cloisters and Chapter House with over 60 stalls selling locally made crafts, Christmas cakes and chocolates, stained glass, jewellery and vintage collectables.

There will be festive refreshments available in the Chapter House and make sure you head over to the Monk’s Kitchen where you can try out the new Christmas menu and scrumptious hot chocolate.

Be sure to pay a visit our re-located Cathedral Gift Shop while you are here to find that special and unique Christmas gift. A treasure trove of beautiful decorations and gifts, fantastic Christmas cards, delicious award-winning Christmas mead, and angels everywhere! It’s a small shop offering a very warm welcome – just the place to start your Christmas shopping and help with the upkeep of this beautiful Cathedral at the same time. Happy shopping!

Due to the overwhelming popularity of Carols On The Hour we are holding a second day of festive praise on Saturday 16 December. These services will be sung by Adult Choirs. Kicking off proceedings at 11am and 12noon will be The Caring Chorus Community Choir followed at 1pm and 2pm by The Stuart Singers and rounding the day off at 3pm and 4pm with The Saint Cecilia Singers.

Take a break from the hustle and bustle of this busy season and join us for 30 minutes or more of your favourite Christmas Carols and if all this wasn’t enough we are delighted to have the Tea Angel and life-size Knitivity back again with some amazing new characters for you to meet!

Come and enjoy the fun and all for Free!
