Composed in 1610 and still thrilling audiences over 400 years later, the Monteverdi vespers is an iconic piece of work and one of the great pillars of the Baroque repertoire in the same way as Handel’s Messiah or Bach’s B minor Mass. Enjoy this rare opportunity to hear this incredible and remarkable piece of music performed by the City of Birmingham Choir together with soloists and period instrument ensembles in the magnificent surroundings of Gloucester Cathedral.
