Cathedral Scaffolding Tour

Lady Chapel exterior – specialist tour with apprentice stonemason

Friday 18 and Friday 25 August - 3.30pm to 5.00pm

A unique and special opportunity to join a Cathedral guide on a tour of the scaffolding here at the east end of the building. The Cathedral stone masons are undertaking a project to restore the beautiful stonework of the Medieval Lady Chapel and this tour will take you behind the scenes of their work. Those with a head for heights will get unique views of the Cathedral’s roof line and the chance to get up close to stained glass, architectural features and ancient stonework that otherwise could only be admired from way below on the ground.

Meet at the West End of the Nave (outside the gift shop)

Tickets are £15 available to buy via the Cathedral Office from Tuesday 15 August (opening hours 9.00am-5.00pm) in person, (cash only) or call 01452 229813 to reserve a space and pay in cash on the day of the tour.

Maximum 10 people per tour, over 18’s only as tours are at height

Tours have proven popular and spaces will fill up quickly, so to avoid being disappointed do keep checking our website to see when further dates are added.
