25th May 2017
The Great East Window
A talk and guided viewing by Richard Cann

Thursday 25 May at 6.30pm

in the Chapter House

In the 1350s the Great East Window was created as the crowning achievement in the transformation of the abbey into a suitable setting for the royal tomb of Edward II.

Richard Cann will bring us insights into the window and reveal often unobserved details. By using his excellent photographs he will reconstruct some of the features lost over the centuries.

The evening begins at 6.30pm, when we meet Richard in the Chapter House for an illustrated talk. Canapés and drinks will be served at 7pm and after this we will go into the Cathedral to look at the window. Bring your own binoculars!

Tickets at £10, available until 11th May from the Friends' Office,11a College Green GL1 2LX (open Tuesday and Thursday mornings)
